SEROUS ACINUS – 3
Image of a section of a pancreas at a higher magnification than that on the previous page.
Some acini become surrounded by a line when you place the mouse or click on the image. Their sizes and forms are much varied, due mainly to the way each one was sectioned. Distinguish the other acini.
The connective tissue that exists between the acini is thin, very delicate and very susceptible to technical artifacts during the fixation and dehydration stages of section preparation. For this reason, many acini appear slightly apart from each other, that makes them easier to observe, but does not correspond their situation alive.
Notice the nuclei placed at the basal area of the acinar cells, thus, arranged at the periphery of each acinus.
